HF Projects
HF Projects started back in 2000 when I regained my interest in Amateur Radio . At the time I was commuting 3 hours a day making a perfect mobiling situation. I designed the HF PackerAmp based on my needs for such a device. I was first licensed in 1956 or 1957 and then went off to military service, raising a family and running a consulting business. Homebrew is my first love because of the efforts of a local Elmer while I was a teenager. I try to use the talent given me to return something to this wonderful hobby that began my career.
My first recent build was the Elecraft K2. My experiences with hiking and camping as a Scout Master also influenced the design of the HF Packer-Amp. My association with HFpack heightened my awareness of a need for a small backpacker amplifier for the very popular FT817 transceiver.
The amplifiers have always been home construction projects where the builders particpate as a group to build their amplifier. We still offer the amp as a continuing 10 year project.
I received my formal training in US Navy Electronics, In the private sector I have advanced from technician to engineer over a period of years. I am  a problem solver by nature and an implementer of ideas. As a result of my many years in industry, I have acquired skills in the arts of analog and digital circuit design, computer architecture, embedded micro-computer control systems, circuit board design and hardware packaging. I have served in many capacities for several corporations as a computer system designer and programmer as well as an independent consultant creating a wide range of products.
I nowwork full-time for a new start-up corporation as a prpgrammer of  analytical control systems. As an amateur-radio enthusiast, I enjoy providing  construction kits for radio amateurs as a way to make my contribution to the hobby.
